Identifying and Preventing Burnout:
Taking care of ourselves so we can take care of our clients

Marcia Perlstein, MA, MFT

About the workshop

Our work results in gratification as well as stress; moments where we feel that what we do really matters as well as times where we wonder if we are having any impact at all.  The cost of caring sometimes is problematical for us as we provide nurturing environments for our clients, students and interns.  In a combination of experiential exercises, lecturette and discussion participants will have an opportunity to learn to identify symptoms of burnout and strategize means to prevent and/or ameliorate.

Workshop Objectives:

  • Acknowledge expectations and needs

  • Identify symptoms of burnout

  • Examine how to address symptoms

  • Commit in the presence of others to experiment with an idea developed in workshop

  • Lend feedback
