Clinical Supervision I-Basic Skills

Yvonne Owen, PhD

About the workshop

This didactic, experiential, and interactive workshop will address the primary issues surrounding clinical supervision.

The participants will be able to:

  • Distinguish between supervision, consultation and teaching.
  • Describe the major models of supervision currently being used.
  • Enumerate the various legal and ethical challenges of supervision.
  • Understand the responsibility involved for both the supervisor and supervisee.
  • Develop a contract with a supervisee, define parameters and expectations, and keep appropriate records for supervision.
  • Utilize evaluation methods as appropriate.

Participants will also be provided with written materials for use in their clinical settings.

This workshop will also place you on the path to qualifying as an "Approved Supervisor" whether you are currently providing supervision or looking for a way to expand your professional services.  Take the first step to prepare yourself for the role of an "Approved Supervisor" under these new legal requirements.

This workshop is part 1 of a 3 part series. Each workshop in the series has been designed to stand alone. It is helpful to take all 3, but not necessary.
