This workshop will focus on the clinical skills needed to be an effective supervisor. It will be interactional, practical, and experiential in nature. Although this presentation will serve as an extension of the skills and knowledge obtained at the Clinical Supervision I workshop, its format also accommodates those who wish to take it as a separate offering. The primary focus will be an intensive focus on the clinical skills required for supervision, and participants will have an opportunity to practice these skills during the day's activities. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate effective ways to structure the initial contact with the supervisee.
- List and model techniques that will increase the effectiveness of the supervision process.
- Identify ways to deal the "difficult" supervisees.
- Understand the process of the supervisory relationship.
- Identify the developmental stages of the supervisee, and know how to most effectively match supervisor style to the developmental stage of the supervisee.
- Conduct an evaluation of a supervisee.
This workshop will also place you on the path to qualifying as an "Approved Supervisor" whether you are currently providing supervision or looking for a way to expand your professional services. Take the first step to prepare yourself for the role of an "Approved Supervisor" under these new legal requirements.
