Ethical Standards and Decision Making Challenges

Presented and developed by Bruce Spencer, PhD, MA, LMHC, LMSW, NCC

This seminar is designed to present ethical standards, and challenge the participant's interpretations and beliefs related to ethical conduct.  Ethical conduct is an expectation of all mental health practitioners, yet we continue to see a high incidence of unethical practices.  Interestingly, only a small percentage of practitioners read the ethics and standards on a regular basis.  Common responses such as, "I'm ethical", "I don't need to hear this again", "I have never had a complaint", can lead to judgment error.

This seminar will address the ethical codes, standards and aspirations of our professional as well as challenges to ethical practice.  In addition to case studies, participants are encouraged to share their experiences, questions and thoughts regarding specific ethical issues.

To facilitate this interactive process, participants are encouraged to read their specifc discipline's code of ethics prior to attendance.  Open discussion and participation will be encouraged throughout this seminar.
