The September and October workshops and their waitlists are now full.  November is also now full, but there is a wait list.  We just added new dates for both Mountlake Terrace and Tacoma.

This didactic, experiential and interactive 2-day, 15 hour workshop on Clinical Supervision meets the requirements for becoming an approved supervisor.  The workshop will start with the basics, proceed through clinical skills and finish with the advanced skills needed to become an experienced supervisor.

 Attendees will be able to:

  • Distinguish between supervision, consultation and teaching
  • Describe the major models of supervision currently being used
  • Enumerate the various legal and ethical challenges of supervision
  • Understand the responsibilities involved for both the supervisor and supervisee
  • Develop a contract with a supervisee, define parameters and expectations and keep appropriate records for supervision
  • Utilize evaluation methods as appropriate
  • Demonstrate effective ways to structure the initial contact with supervisee
  • List and model techniques that will increase the effectiveness of the supervision process
  • Identify ways to deal with "difficult" supervisees
  • Understand the process of the supervisory relationship
  • Identify the developmental stages of the supervisee, and know how to most effectively match supervisor style to the developmental stage of the supervisee
  • Conduct an evaluation of a supervisee
  • Develop a personal model for clinical supervision
  • Refine skills in giving feedback to supervisees
  • Refine skills and increase confidence in dealing constructively with difficult supervisees

There will be time for practice with feedback and a chance for people to address their supervision questions and challenges.
